Odd pets
Recently, I saw a man walking his pet tortoise in my local park, Hongo Fureai Park in Nakano-ku. I asked him if I could take pictures, which I did. I was surprised how fast it moved through the grass. I had to reposition myself a few times to take my pictures as the creature kept advancing at a fast scurry. Coincidentally, only a couple of hours earlier I saw a young couple in Shinjuku Central Park, near Shinjuku Station in central Tokyo, walking their pet rabbits on leashes. A rabbit isn’t an odd pet, but walking it on a leash in public is something you don't see every day. Other pet oddities I’ve seen in Tokyo include a pet monkey, an iguana, an owl, and a miniature, or “Pygmy” pig.
