Punk rock flashback
On Sunday, November 13, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. outside the local MOS Burger restaurant while I was walking home from a nearby 100-yen shop where I went to buy snacks. I was suddenly reminded of Punk Rock fashion in Guelph, Ontario, circa 1980, and my old acquaintance, Chris P. who often looked similar to this. In 1980, so clear in my memory, this young man wasn't even born yet - a situation I live with more and more these days. I myself often wore an over-long raincoat with a cloth Union Jack safety-pinned to the back (it still hangs in my old closet in Mom's house), army surplus combat boots, and my lapels were decorated with a variety of Punk Rock and New Wave music pins - sort of like a Soviet soldier with his medals. In 1980 I didn't yet sport any piercings or tattoos. That would change. What can I say? We're all God's children.
