The Right People
Another Facebook meme. This was posted by J.L. in Tuesday, February 18, 2020.
Me: That's just about everyone, isn't it?
J.L.: Not if you are picking the correct people.
Me: No one gets to pick the "correct" people. We live in society with all people, regardless of who they are, what they're like, and what we personally think of them. I mean, the world is filled with people we despise, so get used to it. The trick is to mind one's own business while tolerating other people' insanity. Or, "picking" the "correct" people could mean excluding some - or many - which might be called unsavory, immoral and illegal discrimination. I wonder how practical it is to "pick" people. But I could be wrong.
M.P.: Pretty sure you learn this in grade school.
Me: What I learned in grade school is that children are cruel. Maybe I'm prejudiced, but I think children are immature.
M.P: Sorry you are having difficulties determining your sexuality.
Me: I love you, too.
(When there is animosity, I like to end with a message of love.)
This idea of “picking” the “right” people feels to me like a crazy self-centered idea. But I could be wrong.
