Wedding ring and swords
On Saturday, October 23rd I took my wedding ring to Keio Department Store in Shinjuku two have it re-sized. It was too tight on my finger. This is the second time I’ve had it resized. I know that right away most people will think that I’m just growing middle-aged fat. But, you know, there is another explanation that I just don’t talk about that might explain it, but …
I walked in the front door and approached the Information desk where the store’s hostesses/greeters are stationed. I said, “Atashi no kekkon yubiwa saizu henko shitai.” She directed me to the jewelry section on the 6th floor of the store. There is a place there called “Jewelry Reform Corner.” That’s where they do it. The ring won’t be ready until November 21st, though. While I was there, I paused to look at some samurai swords. Swords are still made today, as art objects. Deadly, of course, but art. For a hundred dollars (about ¥10,000) I can easily buy replica swords - and I have. But the real deal costs a lot more. My eye was caught by a ¥1,380,000 sword, which is about $15,000 (CND).
