Typhoon Hagibis
Typhoon Hagibis, approaching mainland Japan tonight and forecast to be upon us over the weekend, is called a "super typhoon," the strongest tropical storm of the year.
In the afternoon I noticed some windows in the neighbourhood taped up / reinforced as a caution against typhoon damage.
In the evening, I noticed local shop shelves being emptied of produce. I took pictures of empty shelves at a local Lawson-100 shop, the local Family Mart convenience store, and the local Tsukasa supermarket.
I haven't seen this kind of shopping and store-clearing since the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011.
