Wedding songs
On Friday, February 27, 2015 I received a wedding invitation in the mail for my nephew and his fiancé. The event is scheduled for July 2015 and it's good for me because it coincides with my planned vacation. It gives me an excuse to schedule a long-than-usual visit home. The RSVP card invited me to make a note of song requests on the reverse. I quickly filled it up with some of my favorites. But more ideas kept coming, so I had to type it up and print it on a separate paper. Oh, I could go on for hours mining my memory for tunes I like, but I had to return the RSVP card, and so the following list is what popped into my head in just a few minutes. It's heavy with 1960s, 1970s and 1980s tunes because that's when I was growing up, and people will always like the music they grew up with, no matter what it is.
The Beatles - Strawberry Fields Forever (1967)
Jacques Brel - Ne me quitte pas (1959)
The Association - Never My Love (1967)
A Taste of Honey - Sukiyaki (1981)
The Rolling Stones - Angie (1973)
Bob Dylan - I Threw It All Away (1969)
Lay Lady Lay (1969)
The Guess Who - Share the Land (1970)
No Time (1970)
Barbara Streisand - The Way We Were (1973)
A Great Big World - Say Something (2013)
Cat Stevens - Maybe You’re Right (1970)
Leonard Cohen - Suzanne (1967)
So Long Marianne (1967)
Famous Blue Raincoat (1971)
Last Year’s Man (1971)
Tower of Song (1995)
The Kinks - Till the End of the Day (1965)
The Clash - Should I Stay or Should I Go? (1981)
Joan Jett - You Drive Me Wild (2010)
Meatloaf - Paradise by the Dashboard Light (1977)
