Find My Tokyo
This is a model named Satomi Ishihara from the March 2019 edition of a Tokyo tourism poster in my local subway station. Every month a new "Find My Tokyo" poster goes up featuring the same model doing different activities throughout the city. Ishihara has kind of become the face of the Metro subway system here. She also features in short "Find My Tokyo" videos that play on monitors inside subway train cars and on wall-mounted video screens in the subway stations. Every month I take a couple pictures of the new poster - one zooming in on the girl's face (because she's cute), and another of the entire poster, which is a 2.8-meter-long banner. Notice the big, manga-like eyes and the light skin. Japanese women - and other Asian women as well - have long had a thing for light skin.
Ishihara took over fellow actress model Maki Horikita, who was the lead of the previous Tokyo Metro campaign. I’ve been watching and photographing these posters for a couple of years and I never noticed a change in model. I always thought it was the same girl. But sources on the Internet say differently.
