Caterpillars
Caterpillars eating leaves on a bush in front of my building. I'm worried because the next door neighbours, the Takigawas, are pressing to have the bush cut down because it sits close to their property, and they don't like the insect infestation. Many years ago the Takigawas orchestrated the cutting down of a tree on the same spot on the grounds that the tree was unstable and threatened to fall over and hit their house. I didn't see the need for the tree's removal, nor do I see a need for the bushes removal. The Takigawas are not professional horticulturalists, so their opinions and wants mean less to me.
This is Nature. The Takigawas might be in the right, but I don't see it that way. I see them as selfish Nature-haters. All Japanese are Nature-haters. They only appreciate manipulated Nature, not the real thing. Most people are like that, I suppose.
Look at Ikebana flower arranging and Bonsai miniature trees as examples. Some people think of Ikebana and Bonsai as art forms. I think of them as plant-abusing criminal abominations.
But I could be wrong.
