The A-Team and the color dream
On the night of September 11, 2011 I dreamed about the old A-Team TV show. I was a graduate student in Japan Studies who got into a little legal trouble in Americaover drunken abuse of an officer. That resulted in brief jail time - a couple of days - and a big threat to my academic career. The A-Team helped me out while the American sheriff who arrested me conspired to further ruin my career after my release from jail. I was only stupid and obnoxious whereas the sheriff was vengeful and malicious.
I'm surprised I can remember it so clearly. But I wrote it down in an E-mail to a friend soon after waking up and before the memory faded.
I don't drink, in fact.
Then on the night of September 14th/15th I had a dream that was clearly in color. Maybe. Long ago I heard or read somewhere that people only dream in black-and-white. But although I heard some people over the years claim that they dreamed in color I could never remember if I did, and I could never determine if the people who said so were reporting the accurate, verifiable truth or not. Maybe they were just saying they did for any number of other reasons - like out of lack of proper critical consideration of the matter, or just saying what they thought I wanted to hear, ignorance of authoritative psychological descriptions of monochrome dreaming, or the untested assumption that color vision in waking life naturally and always translates to sleeping life.
Anyway, the dream I had on the night of September 14/15 was definitely a full-color event. Or, at least, that is how I remembered it as soon as I woke up.
