Crokinole
When I was a young boy, my mother told me that crokinole originated in my hometown, Guelph. Maybe not. Wikipedia describes a rather vague and convoluted origin story. Even if it’s not of Guelph origin, it's a VERY Canadian game - the same principles as curling, but done with your fingers. It’s a simple game, and often the simplest things are the best. A crokinole board is a pretty big thing. We stashed ours behind the living room curtain and occasionally set it up on a card table in the living room. My brothers and I played it until our fingers hurt from snapping the pieces around the board. Then we gave it a break but took it up again later, after our bruised fingertips had recovered.
