Jizou
"Jizuo" statuette, commonly thought to be dedicated to the souls of aborted or otherwise dead babies. They sit in small street-side shrines throughout the city and the country. They are almost always dressed in red aprons, incense is burned nearly every day, and offerings of flowers, toys and candies are often left at their feet - especially on the Children's Day national public holiday, May 5th.
