Two bounty hunters, veterans of the U.S. Civil War, meet on a blizzardy road in the Wyoming mountains. Major Marquis Warren a.k.a. "The Bounty Hunter" (Samuel Jackson) is trying to deliver his dead customers to the local town, Bed Rock, for payment. John Ruth a.k.a. "The Hangman" (Kurt Russell), is transporting his live prisoner, Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh) to the same town for hanging. But the weather forces them off the road for shelter at a known layover, Minnie's Haberdashery. There they discover others also taking shelter from the storm. It turns out that these others are secretly Daisy’s gang members who are acting out an elaborate plan to rescue her. They killed the proprietors of the layover, assumed false identities, and the whole story is a violent escape tale.
It’s a fascinating picture of vicious characters who are cooped up together, hating and suspecting each other, played by a wonderful ensemble cast. No one gets out alive. It’s kind of a detective mystery to the bitter, bloody end. Very Tarantinoesque.
