Based on the novel of the same name by Chad Kultgen, and called “Stay Connected” in Japanese, Men, Women and Children features families dealing with computer, online and social media addiction. “Stay Connected” is a good title. Pubescent teens dealing with parental relations, peer relations, school and sex. Adults dealing with marital relations, children relations and sex. Basically just a lot of sex and a snake pit of confused relationships. Very human, I suppose. Remember that the future of computing is best indicated by online sex and gaming. Never mind Facebook. Pornography and gaming are so powerful and innovative in their production and delivery that whatever devices they use will sway the entire technologies industry.
This is one of the few films that I could not finish watching. I tolerated a quarter of it then skipped ahead to see if the rest was any different. It wasn’t, so I gave up. It was an interestingly crafted film, a good film with an ensemble cast. Emma Thompson was the voice of the narrator, as if the film was an observational case study in human behaviour. But it wasn’t a good film for me.
