This was an homage to Disney’s animated classic Fantasia. I thought it was dumb but I always think Disney is dumb. I’m not a fan of Disney. But I still gave it three stars just because of the funniness of it. I laughed out loud. More than once. Canadian comedian Jay Baruchel is more funny than he is annoying - and he is annoying.
Two disciples of the great, legendary 8th century wizard, Merlin, fight each other through the centuries. One good, searching for Merlin’s true successor. The other bad, trying to raise an army of the dead in order to enslave mankind for the evil purposes of the dark witch Morgana. Merlin’s true successor, the Prime Merlinean, has the power to destroy Morgana forever, except he doesn’t know it. He has to be found, protected, and trained. He turns out to be geeky New York Universityphysics major David Stutler (Jay Baruchel). Lots of comedic mayhem ensues. It’s an okay movie, but not great. Still, I laughed out loud. More than once.
