National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets
starring Nicolas Cage, Ed Harris, Jon Voight, Harvey Keitel, Diane Kruger, Justin Bartha, Bruce Greenwood and Helen Mirren
screenplay by The Webberleys
directed by Jon Turteltaub
This is a fun film. Really stupid, but fun, just like the first National Treasure. Benjamin Franklin Gates (Nicolas Cage) sets about to find Cibola, the legendary City of Gold. Conspiracy theory; Freemasonry; George Washington and the U.S. Civil War. Everything is thrown into this adventure which is more wide-ranging than the original. It’s the kind of a film you can watch repeatedly and still enjoy. I watched it several times myself, so I should know. And, like any movie - even brilliant, great ones - the more I watched it the more mistakes or visual inconsistencies I found. But that doesn’t make it bad. It’s a bad movie because it’s silly and preposterous. But that does not mean that you will not enjoy watching it. You will - enjoy it, I mean.
