Very rarely do I not finish watching a movie once I have rented it, but this is one. After an hour of watching Oliver Stone’s presentation of the life and presidency of George W. Bush I just couldn’t take it any more. I am no fan of George W. Bush as a person, a governor, a businessman, or a president, but the portrayal of him in this film as beer-swilling, drunk-driving Good Old Boy, open mouth-chewing boor and cretin - although maybe correct - is not what I wanted to watch. Richard Dreyfuss’ portrayal of former Vice President Dick Chenney was scary and eerily troll-like. In other words, pretty accurate. Jeffrey Wright - an actor I like - portraying General Colin Powell was the disdained voice of reason in the build up to the invasion of Iraq in March 2003.
The Japanese title of the movie, “Bush,” makes a lot more sense.
