Liar, Liar
starring Jim Carrey
Canadian Jim Carrey burst onto the Hollywood scene a few years ago with his great success in The Mask. He was on television before that, so he wasn’t a novice. Now with Liar, liar he has found another good vehicle for his manic antics.
Carrey plays an overworked lawyer who, as a result of his neglected son’s fifth birthday wish, finds himself unable to lie on exactly the day when he has an important court appearance that requires him to lie his heart out.
By movie’s end Carrey manages to win his case as well as re-capture his son’s love, but not before the audience has enjoyed 84-minutes of his comical facial contortions and his manic, free-style comedy a la Milton Berle/Jerry Lewis/Robin Williams.
If you liked Jim Carrey in The Maskthen see Liar, Liar. You can safely ignore his intervening films including the likes of Ace Ventura - Pet Detective, Dumb and Dumber and The Cable Guy.
