Edge of Darkness is based on the original television series written by Troy Kennedy martin (1932-2009) and is dedicated to
him.
This is the first Mel Gibson movie I’ve seen in a long time. As soon as I saw him I thought, “Holy cow! Did he ever get old.” Or, maybe I said it out loud, I forget. But age not withstanding, Gibson is a great performer.
Boston police detective Craven’s 24-year-old daughter, Emma, is gunned down and murdered on his own doorstep. The investigators’ first notion is that Detective Craven was the target of a grudge form an old case. But I knew immediately that the daughter was the target based on some secret thing she was involved in. I was right.
The film is very dark, and there is a lot of rain, sort of like The X-Files, or Mimic.
