Hell is a teenage girl.
This is a sexy comedy horror. I loved it. It was so weird and silly. I laughed out loud more than twice. But it doesn’t really deserve a lot of stars. Three out of five is probably quite generous. Megan Fox plays sexy (“salty”) high school cheerleader Jennifer who becomes possessed by a demon. (The rock band she goes to see with her girlfriend Needy - Low Shoulder - want to sell their souls to the devil in order to get a recording contract as a reward. So they abduct Jennifer after the show and ritually murder her in the woods thinking, incorrectly, that she is a virgin sacrifice. Because of that mistake she revives as a demon-possessed creature with extraordinary powers - and appetites.) Jen then proceeds to murder male schoolmates and cannibalizes them. Needy, her best friend since childhood discovers what’s going on and tries to stop her. The intimate, edgy adolescent girl-on-girl banter is really entertaining, even if it is make-believe. (Or is it?)
Screenwriter Diablo Cody is the same woman who gave us Juno (2007). The best line in the movie: “Hell is a teenage girl.”
